The Shop
Artemoldura first opened in 1984 in Rua Serpa Pinto, having moved from Rua de Sapadores, where Casimiro Morgado and his nephew Armindo Teixeira had a shop and workshop. This establishment also includes both spaces; it is the only place in the city today where one can find hand-made frames. They are made from fine woods, using techniques such as carving and gilding. They can be painted, polished or otherwise decorated and their form can be inspired by a vast collection of old frames, some more than one hundred years old.
With the collection of 600 frame samples, some from the oldest house in Lisbon. The shop interior is decorated with pieces representing the other work the firm carries out, i.e. in addition to making frames: the restoration of furniture, sacred art, mural and decorative painting, gilded wood, and others. The business currently belongs to Nuno Morgado, Teresa Morgado and Diogo Teixeira, the children of the founders. Nuno Morgado is a gilder and Diogo Teixeira a cabinet maker. Both learnt their respective trade from their fathers.
